Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 19, 2026

1. Overview

This policy explains what data Summio processes across its web application, browser extension, and mobile app, and why.

2. Data Categories We Collect

Account data: email address, user identifier, session/account state, and selected plan status.

User content: URLs, text, PDFs, images, and audio recordings you submit for summarization.

Subscription and billing status: entitlement and subscription state returned by the purchase provider. Payment card details are not stored by Summio.

Diagnostics and product usage: crash logs, performance data, basic product events, and reliability metrics.

Device and app context: locale/language, app version, push tokens, and required technical configuration data.

3. How We Use Data

To authenticate users, manage sessions, provide summarization features, and enforce purchase entitlements.

To monitor reliability, investigate errors, and improve performance.

To understand feature usage through limited product analytics and to prevent abuse.

4. AI Processing (Third Party)

We use a third-party AI service to generate summaries, flashcards, quizzes and chat answers.

What is sent: the content you submit for processing — links and text, PDF and image uploads, lecture audio recordings, the questions you type in chat, and the study material generated from them.

Who it is sent to: Google LLC, through the Google Gemini API. The transfer is encrypted with TLS and the content is processed solely to return the result you asked for.

What is not sent: your name, email address, account identifier and payment data are not transmitted to the AI provider. The content is not used for advertising.

Google processes this content as our service provider under the Google APIs Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy, which provide protections equivalent to those described in this policy.

Summio uses the paid tier of the Gemini API. On that tier Google does not use the submitted content or the generated responses to train its models or improve its products; the content is retained only for a limited period for abuse monitoring.

Your permission: The mobile app asks for your explicit permission before any content is sent to the AI service. You can withdraw it at any time under Settings > AI & data, which disables the AI features so nothing is sent.

5. Third-Party Services

RevenueCat and the relevant app stores may be used for mobile purchases.

Sentry may be used for crash and performance monitoring.
